Tom Hutton of the Brewmasters [SD] will be there to gather in his trophy for the Outstanding Hitter Award in the Sub League 2.
The Wichita first baseman ended the year with a .374 batting average, 165 hits, 20 home runs, 78 RBIs, .474 OBP and scored 88 times. |  | Thursday, September 22nd, 1977: Upshaw Nabs SL1 Outstanding Hitter Award The top batter in the Sub League 1 in 1977 was Plano left fielder Willie Upshaw. For his standout play, he was voted the Outstanding Hitter Award.
Upshaw starred this season with a .366 batting average, 146 hits, 18 home runs, 76 RBIs, .493 OBP and 101 runs scored.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner, and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Wednesday, September 21st, 1977: Sub League 2 Best Pitcher Chosen Allen Ripley was overpowering this season for the Hialeah Lookouts [LOU] and earned the 1977 Outstanding Pitcher Award.
In a standout year he went 15-8 in 26 starts with 153 strikeouts in 176.2 innings and an impressive 1.32 ERA.
