KGML Double A 10-24-1977 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Sunday, September 18th, 1977: Lee May Named SL2's Best Hitter Maynardville's Lee May teed off on opposing pitching all season long and rightfully claimed his Sub League 2 Outstanding Hitter Award today.
He belted out 169 hits in 469 at-bats to compile his .360 batting average and .423 on-base percentage in 1977. He also tallied 10 doubles, no triples, 44 home runs, 111 RBI and 103 runs scored.
For being named the SL2's top hitter, May will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend. |  | Sunday, September 18th, 1977: 1977 SL1 Top Hitter Trophy Given to Murray The votes have been tallied and the winner of the Sub League 1 Outstanding Hitter Award has been named. It was awarded earlier today to Larry Murray from Lansing for his great year at the plate.
He put up some impressive numbers, including a .315 batting average and .410 on-base percentage this year while racking up 28 doubles, 6 triples, 14 home runs, 91 RBIs and 90 runs scored.
For being named the SL1's premier hitter Murray will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend. |  | Saturday, September 17th, 1977: Great Finish! Relief Ace Named Top SL2 Hurler The Sub League 2 presented the Outstanding Pitcher Award for 1977. It went to bullpen ace Robbie Reilly of Cincinnati for his outstanding work on the mound.
Overall in the season he notched 51 relief appearances and 35 saves. In the won-lost department the 23-year-old Brawlers reliever went 5-4 with a 2.33 ERA.
He will get his best pitcher trophy this weekend at the annual SBWA awards meeting. | | | | |
