KGML Triple A 10-24-1977 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Tuesday, September 27th, 1977: Jorgensen SL2 Selection for 1977 Outstanding Hitter Award Mike Jorgensen had a sensational 1977 season against 1988 pitchers and was acclaimed the league's Outstanding Hitter Award winner today.
The Henderson first baseman hit .289 and collected 133 hits, 22 home runs, 65 RBIs and scored 86 times to win the coveted trophy.
This weekend Jorgensen will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner. |  | Tuesday, September 27th, 1977: Johnstone Nabs 1984 Outstanding Hitter Award Jay Johnstone put together a tremendous season at the plate for Lexington, capturing one of baseball's most coveted offensive trophies, the 1984 WS Division Outstanding Hitter Award.
He posted a .331 batting average and .422 on-base percentage this year while reeling off 150 hits, 24 doubles, 1 triple, 23 home runs and 70 RBIs.
For being named the 1984's top hitter, Johnstone will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend. |  | Monday, September 26th, 1977: 1977 SL2 Outstanding Pitcher Award Chosen Jim Colborn had a marvelous 1977 season. This Henderson mound mainstay garnered the most votes and has been named the SL2 Outstanding Pitcher Award honoree.
Colborn converted no saves this year with a 10-6 won-lost record and 2.52 ERA. Overall he appeared in 23 games and struck out 96 in 164 innings.
This weekend the SION Baseball Writers Association will present the trophy to Colborn at its annual awards dinner. | | | | |
