| Breaking News |  | Saturday, October 22nd, 1977: Barons Beat Cows in Round 3 It was a storybook year for the Boston Barons as they closed out a 4-0 series win over the Fort Worth Cows to claim the 1977 Round 3. They wrapped it up with a 6-5 victory to cap an incredible season and brought home their 1st championship.
The Barons manager gave his view of the series, "We had a lot of things going for us, offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes win a Round 3."
"We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year," said the Cows manager. "They played better baseball than us and they beat us."
During the East Side Conference Northeast Division regular season Boston put up a 105-57 record and finished first. |  | Wednesday, October 5th, 1977: Barons Shut Out Automakers, Candelaria Winner In a sharp 6-hit performance, John Candelaria tossed the Boston Barons to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Detroit Automakers, fanning 6 and walking 0.
"That's as good a stuff as I've seen in a long time," the Detroit manager said in his postgame interview.
This year Candelaria has 19 wins and 7 losses and a 2.75 ERA. |  | Friday, September 23rd, 1977: Campaneris Gets Number 2000! Cleveland's Bert Campaneris belted his 2000th hit against Boston today, but the Barons spoiled the day with a 10-3 victory at Cleveland Stadium. On his historic day, the 35-year-old shortstop went 2 for 5 at the plate for the Blue Sox.
