"Don't believe everything you hear." was the word from the team's ownership group after rumors of Willie Stargell wanting out of Philadelphia surfaced late yesterday. No one knows exactly how this news broke and Stargell laughed it off when told of the story.

 | Tuesday, August 9th, 1977: Shipwrights Johnson Smacks 5 Hits!
All game long Brooklyn's Lamar Johnson was rattling the walls at Pigtown Park and banging out base hits against the Philadelphia Freedom Fighters. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Shipwrights had a 9-4 victory.
Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 26-year-old first baseman said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."
L. Johnson doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Johnson is currently batting .266 with 15 home runs and 64 RBIs.

 | Wednesday, July 20th, 1977: Kravec Struts Stuff in Saint Paul Win
Ken Kravec of the Philadelphia Freedom Fighters was right on target when he blanked the Saint Paul Missionaries 2-0, yielded 5 hits and totaled 4 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Speaking to SION reporters after the game, Kravec said, "I had everything working today and I got some help from my defense, too. They saved my butt a few times."
In season stats Kravec shows a 4-8 record in 19 games, 141.2 innings, 87 strikeouts and a 3.62 ERA.
