| Breaking News |  | Sunday, October 23rd, 1977: Tomlin Re-ups with Automakers for 2 years
Team officials were upbeat today as Dave Tomlin signed an extension with the Automakers. He'll be calling Detroit home for the next 2 years and will earn $1,434,000 in salary by the end of the contract.
Year-to-date Tomlin has 45 saves in 61 relief appearances with a 5-4 mark and 2.20 ERA. In 65.1 innings he has 39 strikeouts and 19 walks. Other clubs are hitting .233 against him.

 | Wednesday, October 5th, 1977: Barons Shut Out Automakers, Candelaria Winner
In a sharp 6-hit performance, John Candelaria tossed the Boston Barons to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Detroit Automakers, fanning 6 and walking 0.
"That's as good a stuff as I've seen in a long time," the Detroit manager said in his postgame interview.
This year Candelaria has 19 wins and 7 losses and a 2.75 ERA.

 | Wednesday, October 5th, 1977: Bump Wills Injured, Out of Lineup
Watching Bump Wills getting helped off the field today at Labor Union Ballpark, fans of the Detroit Automakers feared the worst. The news wasn't quite as bad as initially feared, but the second baseman will miss 3 weeks with a strained bicep muscle. "We feel we've dodged a bullet. When you see a guy break down like that, you worry right away," a team spokesman said. Wills suffered the injury throwing the ball in the game against the Barons.
Posting a .291 batting average to date, Wills has 7 home runs and 35 RBIs.
