| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, October 5th, 1977: Stewart Brilliant, Blanks Earthquakes Dave Stewart was in command in his outing against the San Jose Earthquakes. He hurled the Austin Armadillos to a 3-0 shutout victory, yielded 5 hits and chalked up 3 strikeouts and 3 walks.
"A complete game shutout. That's fun territory for me," he told reporters in the postgame interview. "I had good balance and mechanics and was able to keep the ball down. When I do that, good things happen."
|  | Tuesday, September 13th, 1977: Brown Strong Arms San Jose Mordecai Brown of the Oklahoma City Sidewinders whitewashed the San Jose Earthquakes 8-0 in a complete game win, limiting them to 4 hits while chalking up 9 strikeouts and giving up no walks.
"Talking to SION writers after the game, his manager said, "He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys. Mordecai is pretty poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."

The Earthquakes shortstop put up a solid .462 average and contributed 2 home runs and 10 RBIs to claim the honors.
