| Breaking News | | Tuesday, September 13th, 1977: Brown Strong Arms San Jose Mordecai Brown of the Oklahoma City Sidewinders whitewashed the San Jose Earthquakes 8-0 in a complete game win, limiting them to 4 hits while chalking up 9 strikeouts and giving up no walks.
"Talking to SION writers after the game, his manager said, "He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys. Mordecai is pretty poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."
In 31 starts this year Brown has crafted a 13-10 record and a 2.08 ERA. | | Monday, September 5th, 1977: Oklahoma City Star DTD with Strained Abdominal Muscle Mitchell Page of the Oklahoma City Sidewinders is probably going to miss a day or two as a result of a strained abdominal muscle that doesn't seem to be getting better quickly.
"I feel okay. Not one hundred percent, but I can go if the team needs me," the Oklahoma City star performer said.
The team physician has said Page's time off will be about one week or until he can play without pain, but a trip to the disabled list is not likely.
In 135 games this season Page has batted at a .318 pace with 135 hits and 25 home runs. | | Saturday, July 23rd, 1977: Oklahoma City Starting Pitcher Injured The Sidewinders received bad news this morning. Mike Flanagan will miss 2 weeks due to a strained elbow ligament. In the Oklahoma City-Austin game he sustained the injury while throwing a pitch. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," Flanagan sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery."
This year Flanagan has compiled a 11-6 record with a 3.15 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 80-82, .494 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 10.0 GB | | Record at home | 38-43, .469 PCT | | Record on the road | 42-39, .519 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-8, .467 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 19-30, .388 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 20-20, .500 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 60-62, .492 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in May | 10-19, .345 PCT | | Record in June | 15-10, .600 PCT | | Record in July | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in August | 16-12, .571 PCT | | Record in September | 8-15, .348 PCT |
